Artistic Competition WAG and MAG

Competition Gymnastics

Entry into our Competitive Programme is by invitation only. Gymnasts will be selected from our Gym Fun Programme if they show a certain level of strength, flexibility and a love of gymnastics. It is a competitive programme so gymnasts and their caregivers will need to commit to attending competitions at WAGS and travelling away to other gymnasiums around the country.

Training hours increase as gymnasts move through their levels. We also need parent support for helping out at our events.

WAG (Womens Artistic Gymnastics)

Women compete in four apparatus: Vault, Bar, Beam and Floor.

Gymnastics NZ has developed the STEP Programme that encourages gymnasts to Strive Towards Excellence in Performance with progression through thresholds to ensure gymnasts advance as they are ready. There are 10 Steps from beginner to international level gymnastics.

MAG (Mens Artistic Gymnastics)

Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) is an exciting Olympic sport which involves six different apparatus; floor, pommel, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar.
