Welcome To Cheerleading at WAGS

WAGS is excited to announce the introduction of an all-stars cheerleading program to the club.

All Star cheerleading is a competitive sport where both males and femls compete in a tean of 5-28 athletes.

Cheerleading involves perfoming a 2 minute and 30 second routine composed of stunting, pyramids, tumbling , jumpinh and dancing. Every member has a role in the team and athletes can perform in multiple different streams  (CheerDANCE, Dues, Singles etc). All star Cheerleaders dont cheer for other teams THEY ARE THE TEAM.

Future of Cheerleading at WAGS

Our Aim for the cheerleading program in term four is to introduce athletes to the All Stars Cheerleading Regiment. The focus will be on developing athletes understanding of the sport of cheerleading and eaching the necessary skills , stunts and movement for each level of the sport. Our goul is to provide a program that allows athletes of all levels to perform and compete in all-stars cheerleading competitions. The growth of the program in 2024 will be determinded by the interest and progress of the athletes. 

Performance Divisions Available 

All stars cheerleading have a Variety of divisions for an athlete to perform in:

  • Teams - Mainstream for cheerleading , teams of 5-28 athletes.
  • Elite Teams - Seven levels that run alongside normal CheerSPORT levels.
  • Duos - Athletes can perform a duo cheerleaing rountine with a partner
  • Singles - Athletes can perform individual cheerleading routines by them self.

WAGS  Cheerleading Program Term 4 

In Term 4 2023 , WAGS will be offering the following two classes of CheerSPORT ( Team Cheerleading) 

  • CheerSPORT Level 1-3 Saturdays 2:30pm - 4:00pm
  • CheerSPORT Level 4-7 Saturdays 4:00pm - 6:00pm

Skills Needed for Each Level 

Level 1 :

Tumbling : Forwards/ Backwards Rolls, Handstands/ Roundoffs, Bridges/ Walkovers.

Stunting : Waist Level Hand Balances , back stands, Shoulder sits and stands, Craddle holds, Arm Positioning.

Tosses : N/A

Level 2 :

Tumbling : Font/Back handsprings, Connected L1 and L2 skills

Stunting : Waist Level inversions , Prep level hand balances, Craddle dismounts, Prep Level Liberties

Tosses : Straight Toss 

Level 3 :

Tumbling : Handspring Combos, Front and Back Tucks, Aerial Cartwheels

Stunting : Hand Tosses, Liberty Variations, Twisting Craddle Dismounts

Tosses : Ball and Pike Toss, Toe Touches, Full Twists

Level 4 :

Tumbling : Whipbacks, Front and Back Somersaults, Front and Side Aerials

Stunting : Released inversions, Releases to extensions, Complex twisting to stunts 

Tosses : Kick Tosses, Simple Combos ( Eg Ball Fall )  

Level 5 :

Tumbling : Handspring  and Flip Combos , Twisting Somersaults

Stunting : Cradle stunt combinations, Twisiting helicopter releases , inversions from stunts 

Tosses : Kick Tosses, Simple Combos ( Eg pike switch kick )  

Level 6 :

Tumbling : Complex flip / twist combo. standing flips and twists

Stunting : Complex connections of twisting, cradles , libs and inversions 

Tosses : Kick Tosses, Simple Combos ( Eg pike switch kick )  and Double full tosses

Level 7 :

Tumbling : Complex flip / twist combo. standing flips and twists

Stunting : Complex connections of L 6 and L7 skills, Flip stunts to and from ground

Tosses : Back somersaults , Arabians, Back twisting 

How to Join

All members interested in doing Cheerleading will need to attend a Trial. This is so we can accurately assess your tumbling abilities, Relevant cheerleading jups and single stunts. Those new to the sport are activily encouraged to start with Level 1-3
